Alessi's didn't have to move far to find its beautiful new home, but what a transformation! They've taken everything that made this Tampa institution special and expanded it into an incredible food market experience. The new space feels bright, open, and inviting, with dedicated counters for pizza, the deli, bakery, prepared foods, and even a full bar—a wonderful addition that makes it easy to linger a little longer. Somehow, they've managed to modernize while preserving the heart and soul that has made Alessi's a Tampa favorite for generations. Founded in 1912, Alessi's has been part of Tampa's food story for well over a century. The family helped shape the city's Italian culinary traditions, and today the new location celebrates that legacy while introducing it to a new generation. No visit is complete without trying their famous scachatta, a true Tampa original. Scachatta is a thick, Sicilian-style tomato pie with a soft, airy crust, seasoned tomato sauce, and a generous layer of grated Romano cheese. What a treat to have this institution in our town! I tried their Cuban today and it was really good. I got their Hand Carved Cuban and it was as good as any I’ve had. It is Tampa style w Salami and their Mojo pork is very flavorful and the addition of Honey Baked Ham ups the level even further. Put it on the list of great Cubans in Tampa!

Walking into Alessi Bakeries Food Market feels like stepping into a small food hall. There are dedicated sections for liquor, pizza, a deli, coffee, and of course, the bakery. In the middle of the market you'll find tables and chairs alongside grab-and-go options. The bakery display is impressive. The beautifully decorated pastries and a huge selection of desserts were amazing to look at. And the service at each station was welcoming and helpful. We ordered the California steak wrap, deviled crab, zucchini muffins, and the ooey gooey butter cake. The California steak wrap was okay. It leaned a little oily and I wish there were more vegetables to round it out. The deviled crab had a nice flavor, but there were small shell bits that threw me. The zucchini bread tasted good, but was quite sweet. Same with the ooey gooey butter cake, just very, very sugary. Not a bad visit but nothing really stood out this time. I'm open to giving them another shot, maybe for pizza or other pastries.

I had high hopes for this place and the bakery doesn’t disappoint… the food especially the deli is average and I’m sad to say it. The Cuban had very little on it the sweet potato fries were good and the customer service seems very good. The food is all to go, no plates for those that want to eat on site. A few tables inside and several outside but let’s face it, it’s Florida and it’s too hot. Beautiful new location and I hope they succeed, can be cramped when busy worth the stop if you’re just in for treats other wise you wait. Parking is good but when busy you still may have a hard time finding a spot.

Our family has been going to Alessi for over ten years, and we just recently learned they moved a little ways down the street to a new spot. We do miss the old location's homey, comfortable feel, but the new place is bright, vibrant, and genuinely fun to walk into. First off, we can't say enough about the staff! We interacted with at least five different people while we were there. Everyone was warm and helpful and made us feel right at home. We ordered a cake for a private party and it was a showstopper. Gorgeous to look at, and the taste was every bit as good as the presentation. Moist, dense, with strawberries baked right into a vanilla cake. The staff took real care helping us decide what to write on it, and the personalization came out perfectly. We also picked up a dozen assorted cupcakes, and somehow each one was better than the last. The real surprise was finding pignoli cookies in the case. Those are hard to come by in town, and theirs are excellent. If you're in Tampa and you need a cake, pastries, or just want to walk into a bakery that clearly cares about what it puts out, this is the place. We'll definitely keep going back.
